Stronger Together: Building Support for Families and Students with Special Needs
You don’t have to navigate special education alone—explore clear, reliable information and resources that empower you to confidently advocate for your child.
Special education can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone or feel powerless. Schools are responsible for supporting all students, yet it’s parents who best understand their own child’s unique needs and can champion those needs most effectively. Here, you’ll find the knowledge, resources, and encouragement to help you speak up with confidence and ensure your child receives the education they deserve. Together, we’re building stronger advocates—one informed parent at a time.
Supporting parents to stand strong as their child’s best advocate—safeguarding their education no matter what challenges arise.
“Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream.” Amos 5:24

Who I Am & Why I Help
I’m April, a parent who understands firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate special education and advocate for your child. My journey began when I started advocating for my own son, which inspired me to become a special education teacher. I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from West Texas A&M University, a post‑graduate certificate in Educational Diagnostician studies from Stephen F. Austin State University, and I am currently pursuing advanced studies in Special Education Advocacy at St. Mary’s University School of Law. This combination of classroom experience, diagnostic expertise, and specialized training allows me to provide parents with informed guidance and practical tools for navigating special education processes.
Through my “Ask April” email submissions, I offer guidance to parents seeking clarity on special education processes—at no cost—because every family deserves access to support and reliable information.
